Sacramento Fire Department crews battled a fire that burned a house, outbuildings and several vehicles Thursday evening at a rural site on East Levee Road, north of Del Paso Road.

Chris Harvey, Fire Department spokesman, said the fire was reported at 6:23 p.m. The firefighting effort was complicated by the lack of fire hydrants in the area. Harvey said water was being brought in by tankers.

The house is a family residence, and the occupants were not injured, he said.

About 50 firefighters were on scene, and Harvey said they were about to bring the the fire under control as of 7:20 p.m.

The cause and origin of the fire has not been determined.
