A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for Leah Callison, the 12-year-old Rancho Cordova girl who was struck and killed by a vehicle as she walked to summer school Tuesday morning.

The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the quad area at Mitchell Middle School, 2100 Zinfandel Drive, Rancho Cordova, according to a Folsom Cordova Unified School District news release.

Callison, a student at Mitchell Middle School, was attending summer school at Cordova High School and was struck by a vehicle near than the intersection of Coloma Road and El Manto Drive about 6:45 a.m., according to the Rancho Cordova Police Department. She was transported to an area hospital where she died of her injuries.

A fund to help Callison’s family with the cost of funeral expenses has been set up by a school community member. Donations may be made online at YouCaring Compassionate Crowdfunding, http://sacb.ee/a6Op.

As of Friday afternoon, $3,480 had been donated toward a goal of $10,000, according to the website.
