Two people were taken to UC Davis Medical Center suffering from burns following a Friday afternoon house fire in Nevada County.
The fire was reported about 3:35 p.m. on Carey Drive off Ridge Road, near Grass Valley. Firefighters arrived to find a single-family home filled with smoke and fire burning through the attic into the main living area, according to a Nevada County Consolidated Fire District news release.
One person had made it out of the house. A second person was reported trapped inside and was located by fire crews in a bathroom.
Both people suffered significant burn injuries, the news release said, and were transported by CALSTAR air ambulance to the burn center at UC Davis Medical Center.

The fire took about an hour to knock down and two hours to fully extinguish. The cause is under investigation.
