A fire burned dry grassland, a barn and killed livestock Monday night outside of Dixon.
The fire began about 6 p.m. on Sikes Road, about a mile south of Midway Road, when a vehicle fire on the shoulder of the road spread into a dry field. The fire eventually burned about 50 acres.
The fire also burned down a barn with hay inside and killed at least one cow, according to Greg Lewis, Dixon fire chief. The blaze was eventually contained with help from several fire departments.
