A homeless man accused of using an improvised spear in a Tuesday night attack in Auburn is now lodged in the Placer County Jail.
Dustin Gordon Marshall, 35, described by Auburn police as a transient, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers responded about 8:50 p.m. Tuesday to a business in the 500 block of Auburn Ravine Road regarding a reported battery. The victim told officers that a transient had stabbed him with a sharpened improvised spear while they were in a field behind Epperle Avenue, according to a Police Department news release. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Police found Marshall in the Auburn Town Center about 3 a.m. Wednesday and took him into custody. He is being held in jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
