Man convicted in shooting that left victim paralyzed

A man was convicted of a shooting at a known gang hangout in Sacramento that left a man paralyzed, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

Joseph Fair, 41, was convicted by a jury Wednesday of attempted murder and assault with a firearm in the Dec. 12, 2014, shooting. The man who was shot went with his brother to what the DA’s Office said was a hangout for the Del Paso Heights Bloods street gang on Marysville Boulevard.

A fight broke out between the man and a gang member and then he was kicked out of the gang clubhouse. Fair followed the man outside and shot him in the back, the bullet damaging his spine, resulting in permanent paralysis, according to a District Attorney’s Office news release.

Fair is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 16.
