The Placer County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in Lincoln on Tuesday morning for allegedly bringing marijuana across state lines.

Donald E. McCormick III, 37, was found camping in Thunder Valley Court. McCormick came from Oregon with six pounds of marijuana to give to other poker players at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort, according to Placer County sheriff’s deputies.

The Sheriff’s Office, while acknowledging that marijuana laws have changed in California, offered a warning:

“It is still illegal in California to transport marijuana across state lines,” according to a statement on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. “Regardless of the conflicts surrounding marijuana, deputies will still pursue criminal charges when California law is violated.”
