When homicide detectives responded to the scene, they received initial information that there were several fights in the street prior to the gunshots being heard. Sacramento Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Tony Turnbull said deputies believe there’s more than one shooter. One suspect was described as a black male, in his late teens to early 20s, with short dreadlocks. He was reportedly seen leaving the scene on foot, Turnbull said.
The identity of the dead man will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
