One man died and another was injured in a fight in a south Sacramento neighborhood Monday afternoon.
Sgt. Bryce Heinlein, Sacramento police spokesman, said a call was received about 1:30 p.m. reporting a stabbing in the 7700 block of Vallecitos Way, south of Elder Creek Road, between 65th Street Expressway and Power Inn Road. Officers found a man who was unresponsive with stab wounds lying in the street in front of a residence. Sacramento Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Heinlein said the man, described as African and in his 60s, apparently was involved in a fight with a man in his 20s, who showed up at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are looking for anyone who witnessed the incident. Heinlein said investigators have not determined what the relationship was between the two men and whether they lived in the neighborhood. Police do not believe anyone else was involved, he said.
