Two days after an elderly woman and man were found dead in a south Sacramento home, police are saying little about the circumstances other than it was an “isolated incident” with no suspects outstanding.

The two were found Wednesday afternoon in the 5400 block of Bonniemae Way, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Sacramento police said Thursday that the two people “may have some family relationship.” Authorities have yet to identify them and do not plan to do so until next week.

An 89-year-old woman who lived in the home for decades was one of the victims, according to Jackie Hopkinson, a neighbor and longtime friend.

Hopkinson, who lives across the street, said her husband got a call from one of the resident’s nieces saying she couldn’t get in touch with her aunt. Hopkinson’s husband entered the house through the garage to check on the elderly woman when he found the bodies and called 911.

Officer Linda Matthew, a Sacramento Police Department spokeswoman, confirmed that police received a call around 4 p.m. Wednesday from a neighbor reporting the bodies in the home.

She said police could not identify them until the Sacramento County coroner’s office completes an autopsy. The coroner’s office said Friday that the autopsy likely won’t be done until Monday.
