California Highway Patrol investigators are looking for a hit-and-run suspect who killed a man on a bicycle in south Sacramento on Sunday.
At 12:03 a.m. on Sunday, a red Cadillac sedan driving eastbound on Gerber Road, west of French Road, crashed into Sacramento resident Joseph Lee Stanley, 42 as he biked in the same direction on the road’s shoulder, according to CHP. Stanley’s identity was released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities said the driver left before officials arrived. Lee was determined to be dead at the scene.
Torn up in the crash, the Cadillac left behind parts that along with witness statements helped authorities identify the make of the car, which is possibly a CTS model, CHP said. The car should have a broken headlight and other damage on its front right side.

CHP’s felony follow-up investigators are trying to subpoena footage from video cameras at nearby businesses that they believe could help identify the perpetrator, said CHP officer Adrian Quintero.
Quintero said that anyone with information should call South Sacramento CHP at 916-681-2300.
