The Placer County Sheriff’s Office put two Colfax schools on lockdown Monday morning while searching for a man with an oustanding felony warrant for stealing a car.

Deputies searched unsuccesfully for Kevin Harris, 33, who the sheriff’s office said has shoulder-length dirty-blond hair, is wearing a camouflage jacket, shorts and a black backpack and was last known to be near Alpine Way.

The sheriff’s office announced on Twitter at 10:51 a.m. that lockdowns placed on Colfax High School and Colfax Elementary School had been lifted. About 10 minutes later, the Placer Union High School District added on its Twitter account that classes had resumed.
