A man in his 40s was shot dead outside a south Sacramento auto-repair shop Tuesday afternoon, according to Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Tony Turnbull.
The victim was an employee at X-pert Auto Repair, in the 3000 block of 52nd Avenue, Turnbull said. The area is an industrial district that includes warehouses and other auto businesses adjacent to light-rail and railroad tracks.
Just after 1:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found the victim just outside the repair shop with gunshot wounds to his upper torso, according to Turnbull. Sheriff’s and Sacramento Metro Fire District personnel attempted to perform lifesaving measures but the victim died at the scene.
The victim and suspect had a dispute before the shooting, and the suspect remains at large, Turnbull said. Authorities did not immediately provide a description of the male suspect, whose relationship with the victim remains unclear.
