The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday arrested Sacramento resident Cansio Santiago Ramirez, 47, on suspicion of killing an employee at a south Sacramento auto repair shop Tuesday afternoon, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Ramirez was arrested at his home for the shooting death of Arnulfo Soto, 37, the department said. Detectives believe Ramirez shot Soto outside X-pert Auto Repair after Soto and another man got into an argument over a vehicle purchase that escalated into physical fighting, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
“Ramirez was not part of the physical altercation, but rather a third party at the auto repair shop,” the department reported in a news release.
After wounding Soto in the upper torso, Ramirez fled, the sheriff’s department said. Soto died at the scene.

The incident was reported about 1:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of 52nd Avenue, authorities said.
Ramirez is not eligible for bail. The Sheriff’s Department is not releasing his booking photo because doing so could compromise detectives’ ongoing investigation into the shooting, the department said.
Daniel Garcia, owner of the repair shop and a Sacramento resident, said Wednesday that he knew little about the circumstances of the shooting and was not present when it occurred.
“I just feel that it’s tragic,” Garcia said.
Garcia said he believes the shooter has mental health issues, saying shop employees asked the man to stay away from the business’ premises more than a year ago. Garcia said he did not know if the man had returned since then before Tuesday.
“I don’t keep track of what vagrants come around lately,” he said.
