Roseville's new police chief was to be sworn in during a Thursday afternoon ceremony in downtown Roseville.
Jim Maccoun, the city’s assistant police chief since 2014, was to officially assume command of the Police Department during the ceremony set for 3 p.m. at the Roseville Theater. He succeeds Daniel Hahn, who was sworn in as Sacramento’s chief of police last week.
Maccoun grew up in Roseville and developed an interest in law enforcement when he worked as a police service aide for the Roseville department while attending Sierra College, according to a city news release.
He joined the Sacramento Police Department as a community service officer in 1982 and rose through the ranks to the position of captain.
