Sierra mudslide cleared, westbound I-80 reopened

Westbound Interstate 80 has reopened to traffic through the Sierra after a mudslide prompted closure at the California/Nevada state line late Friday afternoon.

The California Department of Transportation announced about 8:15 that crews had cleared debris that had blocked the highway near Farad.

Flash flooding due to rain was reported around 5:30 p.m. in the Farad area, according to the California Highway Patrol’s incident website.
