Coroner’s Office identifies man fatally shot in North Highlands

A man fatally shot at a North Highlands home has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Terry McCauley, 34.

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call around midnight Monday in the 4100 block of Painter Way and found McCauley, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, according to a department news release.

McCauley, who lived at the house, was pronounced dead by Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel.

There were signs of forced entry, according to Sgt. Tony Turnbull, Sacramento County Sheriff Department spokesman.
