Man may have been critically injured in downtown Sacramento assault

Sacramento police are seeking information regarding a possible physical assault that left a man seriously injured early Sunday.

Officers were called to the area of 12th and K streets about 2:15 a.m. regarding a man in his 30s who was bleeding and in need of medical attention. Police and medical personnel located that man who appeared to have fallen and hit his head, according to a Police Department news release.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he remained in critical condition Monday, police reported.

Preliminary information police obtained during their investigation indicated the man’s injuries might have been caused by an assault.

Investigators believe witnesses may have been in the area at the time and ask anyone with information regarding the incident to call the Police Department’s dispatch center at 916-264-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357, or submit an anonymous tip using the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
