SWAT officers and crisis negotiators were trying Monday night to make contact with a man suspected of shooting a woman at a home in the North Sacramento area.
The woman, who underwent surgery at a Sacramento-area hospital, is expected to survive, said Officer Eddie Macaulay, a Sacramento police spokesman.
Macaulay said the shooting was reported about 4 p.m. in the 2500 block of Erickson Street, near Frienza Avenue. Officers found a woman with a gunshot wound, and she was transported to an area hospital.
A man sought in the shooting was believed to be in the residence, and police evacuated nearby homes, Macaulay said.
