Detectives would like to talk with people aboard a party bus who may have witnessed an assault in downtown Sacramento early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the area of 12th and K streets about 2:15 a.m. regarding a man in his late 30s who was bleeding and in need of medical aid, according to a Sacramento Police Department news release. It initially was thought that the man had fallen and hit his head, but investigators later received information leading them to believe the man had been assaulted. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police announced Thursday that investigators have developed additional information that a party bus was parked in the immediate area of K and 12th streets between 1:57 a.m. and 2:12 a.m. Police released a photo and video clip of the party bus.

Anyone with information regarding the assault is asked to call the Police Department’s dispatch center at 916-264-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357, or submit an anonymous tip using the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
