Investigators say that a woman found in the Sacramento River last week was a victim of a homicide.

The woman was identified as Emilina Quintero, 30, of West Sacramento.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from a fisherman on Sept. 4 saying he had found a woman in the water, according to a department news release. The department, with the assistance of its Marine Enforcement Detail and emergency crews, recovered the body near Isleton and were not able to immediately identify the woman.

The news release does not say what led investigators to conclude that Quintero was a homicide victim. The department says it has not identified a suspect nor a motive.
