A 27-year-old man has been arrested in the hit-and-run collision that killed a bicyclist early Thursday in Folsom.
Justin Nicholas Greene of Folsom was taken into custody after police used debris at the collision scene to track the vehicle to a local residence. Greene was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident, according to a Police Department news release.
Police received a 911 call at 2:31 a.m. from a motorist, who reported a bicyclist in the roadway on East Bidwell Street at Oak Avenue Parkway, said Sgt. Andrew Bates, Folsom police spokesman. The bicyclist, a 41-year-old man, died at the scene, Bates said.
The bicyclist’s name has not been released pending notification of family.

Although there were no witnesses at the scene, officers used physical evidence at the collision site to identify the vehicle, a blue-gray 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, which was later found at the Folsom address where Greene was arrested. Officers and detectives determined that Greene was the driver and was under the influence of alcohol, the news release said. Bates said alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the collision.
