As officers approached the car, the male driver drove rapidly in reverse toward one of the officers, who had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. The driver then accelerated and fled until he crashed his car into a tree at Sierra Gardens Drive and Douglas Boulevard.
Both occupants got out of the car and ran away. The passenger surrendered to officers a few minutes later, but the man ran to an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Kent Place, broke into an occupied apartment and hid.
Two people inside the apartment, who didn’t know the suspect, fled without being harmed and met police officers outside. Officers then apprehended Oseguera with the help of a police K-9.
The female passenger was released without being charged.
