A bicyclist died Tuesday afternoon after he was struck by a Jeep Liberty in south Sacramento County.
The crash occurred about 3:45 p.m. in the 7400 block of Center Parkway near C Parkway. California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Michael Bradley said the driver of the Jeep struck the bicyclist, then lost control of the vehicle and struck two trees in the front yard of a residence.
The bicyclist, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bradley said the driver of the Jeep, also described as a man in his 50s, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
