Driver reportedly shot in south Sacramento after argument with pedestrian

A man has been taken to a hospital after he was found shot Wednesday night in the 5500 block of Sky Parkway in south Sacramento County.

The shooting was reported shortly before 8 p.m. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said the victim, a man in his mid-20s, and his wife were in a vehicle stopped on Sixth Parkway when they became involved in a heated conversation with a pedestrian. The pedestrian reportedly pulled a gun and fired multiple rounds at the victim and his wife.

The victim drove around the corner to Sky Parkway, where he stopped. His wife was not hit by the gunfire.

Bowman said the man was awake and talking before being taken to the hospital, where he was reported in surgery Wednesday night.

The suspect left the area and had not been found as of late Wednesday.

Bowman said sheriff’s investigators do not believe the victim and suspect knew each other.
