Sacramento police have arrested a 17-year-old boy in the death of a man who was found with a gunshot wound on a North Sacramento levee in early December.
Police said the teen was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of homicide. The victim was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 27-year-old Steven Matthews. No information was available on Matthews’ city of residence.
Officers were called to the area of Norwood and Fairbanks avenues about 7:20 a.m. Dec. 3 after a man with a gunshot wound was found lying on a levee west of the intersection, according to a Police Department news release. Sacramento Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Police have not released any information on the motive for the shooting.

The suspect’s name has not been released because he is a juvenile.
