A man was fatally struck Tuesday morning while walking in the Sacramento County town of Isleton.
The man, who investigators believe was approximately 25 to 35 years old and appeared to be homeless, was walking on Isleton Road when he was hit by a southbound car about 4:50 a.m., according to a California Highway Patrol news release.
The impact sent the man tumbling down an embankment on the side of the road into a field below, while the driver lost control of his car and swerved down the embankment as well.
The victim’s identity has not been released. It was not known why he was walking on the road.
