Two men died Monday afternoon in a single-car crash on Highway 20 in Nevada County, the California Highway Patrol reports.
Robert J. Johnson, 45, of Nevada City, and Robert M. Johnson, 67, of Marysville, were killed after their vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, traveled off the off the highway about 4:15 p.m. east of Pine Needle Way and crashed into a sign and several trees, according to the CHP. Both men were pronounced dead on the scene.
Witnesses said the vehicle, driven by Robert J. Johnson, was traveling erratically in the westbound lane before the crash, according to the CHP. It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, authorities said.
