An arrest was announced Tuesday in the death of a 19-year-old Sacramento man whose body was found in a Walnut Grove-area orchard in June.
Steven Rejon of Sacramento was already in custody in an unrelated case when he was arrested Monday in the murder of Demoria Ellis-Rivers, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department news release.
The Sheriff’s Department received a call about 9 a.m. June 8 regarding a man who was unresponsive in an orchard in the area of Twin Cities Road, just east of River Road. A worker came across the man while making his morning rounds.
Deputies found Ellis-Rivers with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Walnut Grove Fire Department personnel arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. Detectives believe Ellis-Rivers was killed at the location where he was found, the news release said.
