A 22-year-old man and his live-in girlfriend have been arrested in the death of a 6-year-old boy at a Sacramento County apartment complex.
Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies responded to an apartment in 7300 block of Power Inn Road about 6:53 a.m. Monday at the request of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. Fire personnel reported that they had found a child dead at the residence.
Sheriff’s detectives conducted a preliminary investigation and determined that the circumstances surrounding the child’s death were suspicious, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. They subsequently developed probable cause to arrest 22-year-old Miguel Uribe and 26-year-old Angelica Garcia, both of Sacramento. Uribe was identified as the boy’s biological brother, and Garcia as Uribe’s live-in girlfriend, according to the news release.
The boy is identified on the Sacramento County coroner’s website as Ralph Serna.
