California Highway Patrol Officer Michael Bradley, while on the scene of Wednesday's crash on Bradshaw Road in Sacramento, explains what happened, when the road will open and whether power is still out.

A truck carrying gravel crashed after trying to avoid hitting another truck Wednesday morning, felling power lines at Bradshaw Road and Vintage Park Drive, the California Highway Patrol reports.

The gravel truck driver swerved to avoid the other truck at 6:20 a.m. and crashed into a power pole, knocking out power to nearby homes and schools for about 30 minutes, said Officer Michael Bradley, CHP spokesman.

About 25 yards of gravel spilled in the crash, Bradley said. The gravel truck driver complained of pain and was taken to area hospital as a precaution, he said.

Southbound Bradshaw Road will be closed for several hours as the gravel is removed and a new power pole is installed, Bradley said.
