A 69-year-old man from San Francisco was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in rural Yolo County.

The victim, whose identity has not been made public as of Monday morning, was driving east on Highway 16 between Capay and Cadenasso when his white Scion XB drifted onto the right shoulder at 3:48 p.m., according to a California Highway Patrol media release.

After moving several feet onto the shoulder, the man tried to swing his car back into the proper lane but overcompensated, sending it across the center median and head-on into a 64-year-old Pleasanton woman driving a silver Toyota Prius west.

The man succumbed to his wounds at Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, about 30 miles away, while the woman was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The CHP is encouraging anyone with information about the crash to call (530) 662-4685.
