Watercraft on Sacramento River hits tree, requiring fire department rescue

The Sacramento Fire Department responded Tuesday evening to a watercraft accident on the Sacramento River south of Garcia Bend.

The incident was reported at 7:34 p.m. Keith Wade, a Fire Department spokesman, said reports indicated that a motorized watercraft, believed to be a boat, hit a tree in the waterway.

Two people were aboard the craft. One swam to shore for help, while the other remained aboard the craft until rescue crews arrived, Wade said.. Both declined medical treatment.
