Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Shaun Hampton details a shooting that left one man shot after a woman was taken hostage near Antelope golf course.

One person was arrested and another remained on the run after a man was shot near Antelope Greens Golf Course on Monday morning.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department received a call from the shooting victim at around 8:08 a.m. Monday on the 2700 block of Elverta Road, spokesman Sgt. Shaun Hampton said. When deputies found the man in a field west of the golf course, he described two male assailants and a woman, who law enforcement believed may have been taken against her will.

Sheriff's deputies, a K-9 unit and an air unit searched for the suspects and the woman, eventually finding the man believed to be the shooter hiding under a nearby bridge with his captive, Hampton said. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, while the woman was unharmed and was not arrested.

Deputies were still looking for the gun and the second man wanted in connection with the shooting as of Monday afternoon, though Hampton said it was not clear whether he was really a suspect.

The shooting victim suffered a lower-body wound and was transported to a local hospital, and is expected to survive.

The Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information about the shooting to call (916) 874-5115 or go online at sacsheriff.com to leave an anonymous tip.
