A 10-year-old girl was seriously injured when she was hit by a car Thursday night in north Sacramento, police said.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m., the girl ran into traffic, chasing after a ball near the 2800 block of Rio Linda Boulevard when a car hit her, Officer Linda Matthew said, spokeswoman for the Sacramento Police Department.
The driver stayed at the scene until police arrived and was evaluated for impairment, and officer determined the driver wasn't impaired.
The girl was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. She is in critical condition, Matthew said.
