Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies responded Thursday to a report of a body found floating in a water drainage pond in the Rancho Cordova area.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said a call was received about 12:15 p.m. Thursday from a passer-by who spotted what appeared to be a body in a pond across from the state Bureau of Automotive Repair at North Mather Boulevard and Spoto Drive.
Deputies arrived to find entry to the site gated and locked, and were seeking alternative methods to enter the property. Bowman said a supervisor on scene determined that the individual in the water was dead.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and does not consider the death suspicious, Bowman said.
