Lodi police have released the names of two men who were shot, one fatally, in their vehicle Saturday night.
Fidencio Godina, 33, died, and Federico Zavala, 25, suffered serious wounds but is expected to survive, police said.
The shooting occurred as the two men were traveling in an older-model Honda at the intersection of Lodi and Cherokee avenues just after 11 p.m. After he was shot, Zavala drove several blocks to an Arco gas station at Victor and Beckham streets and flagged down Lodi police officers who were staffing a DUI checkpoint, police spokesman Eric Bradley said.
Godina, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at the gas station.

The shooting occurred in what Bradley described as an area plagued by gang activity. He said detectives were following up on leads Monday.
