An 18-year-old woman has been booked into Sacramento County jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run in the Wednesday morning death of a pedestrian, 54-year-old Stephen Vuletich of Sacramento, on Marconi Avenue.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Chad Hertzell said Sabina Carillo of Sacramento was arrested Thursday after a friend of hers, who is a private investigator, persuaded her to turn herself in to authorities. Hertzell said the CHP had found her vehicle and knew her identity.

Vuletich was struck about 7 a.m. on Marconi Avenue near Calderwood Lane. The motorist then drove away, according to a CHP officer.

The red sedan was eastbound on Marconi Avenue east of Fulton Avenue. Vuletich was crossing Marconi Avenue diagonally from the northeast corner of Calderwood Lane when he was hit.

Vuletich was not in a crosswalk, according to the CHP. He died at the scene.
