Stockton police shot and killed a man who they said drove at officers with his car.
Kenneth Garcia, 28, was reported dead at a hospital on Sunday.
Police said that Garcia was seen attacking his girlfriend inside a car about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. When officers tried to speak with him, Garcia drove off and was pursued by police on Stockton streets.
Officers eventually “used legal intervention” to get Garcia to stop, according to a police news release. He then crashed into a parked vehicle near Delano Avenue and Calariva Drive.

Officers began to order Garcia out of his car, but he accelerated instead as they approached on foot.
The car, which was stolen from its owner in Tracy, struck one officer in the arm, and another officer jumped out of the way to avoid being hit. Garcia then swerved at an officer who, along with another, shot at Garcia, striking him several times, the release states.
Garcia, who had what police suspect was narcotics in his pocket, had prior arrests for being a felon in possession of a firearm and evading a police officer.
