The apartment complex, which has a number of vacant units, and the local chapter of the American Red Cross, helped the eight displaced residents find shelter for the night, according to Rudnicki.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated. It was unknown if the apartment complex is equipped with sprinklers or smoke alarms.
