Three Sacramento schools were locked down this morning because of a report of a man with a gun - before it was revealed that the armed man was simply a Land Park neighbor returning from a hunting trip, according to school officials.

A Sacramento City Unified School District spokesman said the lock down instituted Wednesday morning at McClatchy High School, California Middle School and Crocker-Riverside Elementary has been lifted.

Spokesman Gabe Ross said a neighbor of the three schools was exiting his vehicle with his gun after coming home from a hunting trip when a motorist driving by saw him. The passerby to call police.

“There does not appear to be at any point any danger to anybody,” said Ross. “All three schools are now back with normal activity.”
