Sacramento police say a parolee-at-large was taken into custody after officers surrounded a Strawberry Manor home where the man had barricaded himself, according to authorities.
Officers went to the home in the 200 block of Olmstead Drive on Tuesday to arrest a parolee-at-large – meaning the parolee had failed to report or was wanted for some other reason – but he would not come out, said police spokeswoman Officer Michele Gigante.
A baby was inside the home, but was not considered a hostage. Gigante said the baby is now safe.
The parolee later was identified as Xa Lor, 27. According to Sacramento Superior Court records available online, Lor was on parole after serving time in prison for a 2011 assault with a deadly weapon charge. He was sentenced in December of that year to three years.
