Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives are struggling to find cooperative witnesses in the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man Tuesday night in Rancho Cordova, according to authorities.
So far, detectives have determined that the victim, who has not been identified, likely was shot next to an apartment building in the 10400 block of Rockingham Drive about 8 p.m., said sheriff’s Sgt. Lisa Bowman.
The victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, stumbled about 50 feet before collapsing by a stairwell, Bowman said. It is there that deputies, summoned by callers reporting gunfire, found him. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died.
No suspects have been identified. Bowman said people contacted at the scene were not cooperative.
