Citrus Heights Police Department ready to ‘tweet’

Citrus Heights police announced that the public can follow the department’s activities on Twitter.

The online social networking and micro blogging media platform enables users to send and read “tweets,” messages limited to 140 characters. Registered users can read and post tweets through Twitter’s website interface, SMS, or mobile device app.

Police officials say they will use Twitter to share real-time public safety information, educate the public about crime prevention, and showcase department programs and staff members.

They stress that the success of the network depends on community involvement and urge residents to follow the department @citrusheightspd.
