An international drug dealer with global reach thanks to his use of the Internet was sentenced Thursday in Sacramento federal court to 15 years in prison.
Shiraz Malik, a Pakistani national who operated out of Poland, pleaded guilty in October to conspiring to distribute and import illicit drugs and ephedrine into the United States, and to launder proceeds from the sales.
Malik, 36, was extradited to Sacramento from the Czech Republic in June 2012, and has since been in the Sacramento County Jail.
According to court documents, from June 2008 to September 2011, when he was arrested at the Prague International Airport, Malik sold pharmaceuticals and strictly regulated chemicals to customers in the United States, Europe, Mexico and other countries.
