Update: Arrest made in fatal North Highlands stabbing

An arrest has been made in the Thursday night stabbing death of a man in North Highlands, authorities say.

Kevin Cottle, 36, of North Highlands was booked on Friday into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of homicide.

The victim, 33, whose identity has not been released by authorities, was in a confrontation with Cottle when he was stabbed more than once in his upper torso, a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department press release states. The two men knew each other, the release states.

Deputies responding to a call to the area of Cornelia Way and Bruce Way at about 8:10 p.m. found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Deputies administered aid before the victim was taken to the hospital by medical personnel. The man died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday.
