Ask Sacto 911 crime Q&A: When will defendants be tried in Carmichael man’s 2011 shooting death?

Do you know what is going on in the case of the killing of Michael Sanderson about two and a half years ago in Carmichael? He was my neighbor when he was a teenager. I know there have been arrests, but when is the trial going to start?

Five people are in Sacramento County Jail, charged in the shooting death of 54-year-old Michael Sanderson on July 29, 2011.

A trial for Patrick Godines, 29, Patrick McPherson, 27 and Travis Mabson, 33, on charges of murder, attempted robbery and burglary is scheduled for June 26, according to Sacramento Superior Court online records.

Two women, Jeanette Campbell, 26, and Aubry Toews, 24, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the case and are to be sentenced May 30, according to online court records.

According to accounts in The Bee, a witness told sheriff’s investigators that two men burst into Sanderson’s apartment in the 5700 block of Marconi Avenue in Carmichael shortly after midnight.
