A surveillance video released by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department showed the suspect opening drawers and cabinet doors behind the counter while pointing a gun at Banga. Detectives speculated that the man was looking for the cash drop box and might have been familiar with the store’s layout.
At one point, Banga interfered, but he backed off after the suspect hit him several times with the gun. Seconds later, the suspect fired at Banga. Another employee, who was working in a refrigerated area behind the store, heard the gunfire and came in as the suspect was leaving. The suspect was described only as a man wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and dark pants.
No arrests in the case have been reported.
