A 24-year-old West Sacramento woman has been arrested in connection with arsons at the Yolo County courthouse in Woodland.

Vanessa Arlene Rivers turned herself in to sheriff’s investigators Wednesday night, accompanied by two Yolo County public defenders, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. Following an interview with detectives, she was arrested on suspicion of arson and taken to the Yolo County Monroe Detention Center.

Rivers is accused of setting fires at all four courthouse entrances between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. The fires caused minor damage to the entry doors. The damage wasn’t discovered until court personnel arrived for work Wednesday morning. The courthouse was closed until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday while detectives and court administrators secured the building and investigated the damage.

Rivers’ bail was set at $150,000. She is scheduled to be arraigned today.
