A man and woman who died in an apparent murder-suicide in Woodland had a dating relationship, according to police.
Woodland police and medical personnel were called to the home of the woman in the 200 block of Riverside Drive around 5 p.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived within minutes of the call and found the two adults suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both were pronounced dead a short time later by medical personnel.
The Yolo County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Jose Pedro Hernandez, 47, of Woodland. Gina Moya, chief deputy coroner, said the woman’s name was being withheld pending positive identification and notification of family.
Police said the two had been in a dating relationship. Officers said the man shot the woman with a pistol before turning the gun on himself.
Other people in the residence at the time of the shooting, children and at least one adult, were related to the woman, according to Woodland police Sgt. Brett Hancock.
